La Divina Gelateria recently opened a new location (7712 Maple Street, New Orleans, LA; 504.861.4114), in the University section of Uptown New Orleans. (Map here.) Parking is tight at the original Magazine Street location, and the initial expansion to the French Quarter didn’t improve accessibility for this patron. In addition to creative, modern Italian gelato, La Divina offers excellent coffee. Big bonus: it opens early! Hours are Sunday through Thursday, 7:00am – 10pm; Friday & Saturday, 8:30am – 11pm. I just might have a macchiato and some gelato for breakfast today…
Update: I had a cappucino and a pignoli cookie. If you’re a fan of straight-ahead, impeccably fresh Italian espresso, run-don’t-walk to any La Divina location. Beans custom-roasted by Orleans Coffee Exchange, fresh Smith’s Creamery milk, and a $2 price tag—easily the best cappucino in New Orleans.
Latest update: The Maple Street location is now closed. Visit the Magazine St. or French Quarter locations.
That’s great news for residents of Uptown; and a great new location for them, so close to Tulane.
The new location is directly in my commuting path–perfect! $2 cappucinos, made with Smith’s Creamery milk; it almost makes up for the awful construction mess on St. Charles Ave!
