I killed another one.  This time, I forgot to take it out of the oven before preheating it to 350 for a batch of cookies.  Baked that sucker right onto the jar.

On to attempt #3…..but the sugar cookies turned out great.  I really like King Arthur’s simple sugar cookie recipe; the resulting cookies have a plain, honest, old-fashioned taste.
