I don’t know if the Forte Grove bakery is a new vendor at the Tuesday Crescent City Farmer’s Market or if I’ve never been lucky enough to shop at the market during their every-other-week visits. Today was my first encounter with Forte Grove’s lovely breads: multigrain and traditional baguettes, brioche, rosemary boules, and a few sweeter treats tucked in between the loaves. Forte Grove hails from Plaquemine, LA (across and downriver from Baton Rouge), so the bakery participates in the Red Stick farmer’s markets on Thursdays and Saturdays. If you’re lucky enough to live in Plaquemine, Forte Grove will even deliver to your house.
A multigrain baguette ($3) made the perfect companion to babaganoush from Nur’s Kitchen (a long-time CCFM vendor). While the calendar may say “Autumn”, the heat still says summer, so I’m still perfectly happy with room-temperature lunches.
