Ninety-second pizza at Ancora; regional Italian food at a Mano

Watch the Times-Picayune’s video of  Jeff Talbot’s 90-second pizza bianca at Ancora; doesn’t it make you want to run out and eat pizza immediately?  (But I really never need an excuse to run out and eat pizza immediately.)

In other local Italian food news, a Mano chef Adolfo Garcia is offering a “culinary tour of Italy” through a series of regional menus, offering a different three course prix fixe menu ($28) each week, which can be paired with a flight of three wines from the same region.  Last week, a Mano’s series kicked off with Calabria’s culinary traditions, and this week features Basilicata & Puglia.  Next week is Campania, followed by Lazio/Rome, Abruzzo/Molise, Sardinia, Sicily, Tuscany, and wrapping up on September 26-30 with Umbria.

  1. We are going Wednesday for the Abruzzo region. Had some great home made gnocchi and some great seafood there last year visiting my wife’s family.

    • We went during the Campania week….had excellent gnudi, spaghetti puttanesca, and a wonderful antipasti selection with stuffed tomato, eggplant, etc.
