Bread pudding fans, beware: a sugar-induced coma may be in your future if you attend Lafayette’s Bread Pudding Taste-Off. On Friday, May 13th, 2011, from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm, more than a dozen Lafayette area restaurants (Poor Boy’s Riverside Inn, Blue Dog Cafe, Blue Magnolia, Bonnie Bell’s Bistro, Pat’s Downtown, 2 Paul’s Radically Urban Barbecue, and others) will showcase their respective versions of Louisiana’s ubiquitous dessert.
Part of the city’s “Downtown Alive” series, the Bread Pudding Taste-Off is brought to you by the Linksters, the brain trust behind the Boudin Cook-off, the Boudin Link, and the Cracklin Trail.
In other matters, I’ve updated yesterday’s Mexi-Cajun Tamales post to include the recipe.
i can confirm, as i am still coming out of a sugar-induced coma, that there was some good bread pudding out there tonight. i voted riverside, boyfriend voted tsunami…the winner was johnson’s boucanière (i’m a big fan of theirs as well)
So were all of the bread puddings traditional, or were there any innovative examples?
I missed the entry deadline. I am on for next year. Godiva White Chocolate bread pudding with a Kahlua Creme Anglaise. Yum. Simple. (except for the spelling)
