Back in ’08, I bought a packet of yard-long bean seeds in San Francisco’s Chinatown, at a shop somewhere on Grant Avenue near Red Blossom Tea. I finally got around to planting the beans this year, and despite the long delay, they sprouted right up. I have a quickly maturing crop of the yardlong, squiggly beans, which also serve to entertain my two-foot long (somewhat feral) female cat. She likes to hang out in the cool shade cast by the tall bean plants.
Soon, I’ll stir-fry the beans, chopped into 2″ lengths, with a bit of pork and some thai red curry paste.
