Every other Tuesday, at the Crescent City Farmer’s Market at Uptown Square, you’ll find Frances Chauvin, a/k/a “The Pie Lady”. Mrs. Chauvin, a Hammond, LA resident, sells a wide variety of seasonal fruit pies. A recent blueberry/peach pie hit the mark. Tart, sweet, and sheathed in a flaky, buttery crust, it was a pie straight out of central casting. It needed no ice cream, no whipped cream….it just needed to be eaten and enjoyed. Other pie flavors include peach, strawberry, pumpkin, apple, pecan, sweet potato, mincemeat, and cherry.
Her cushaw pies are to die for. She goes to the Red Stick on Saturday. On the rare occasions I get there I look for her
Mmm, cushaw pies. I’ve never seen the cushaw on offer at the Tuesday mkt. I’ll have to ask her about them…
Probably seasonal like her other pie. Look for them in the fall
