Good news for home-based culinary entrepreneurs! Louisiana’s expanded cottage foods bill is one step closer to becoming law. Originally recorded as House Bill 775, the proposed legislation’s text was substantially changed, so it was re-engrosssed as House Bill 1270 (full text here)….which made it out of committee and onto the House floor…where it passed unanimously. The revised text now clarifies that “low risk” foods cannot include any animal muscle protein or fish protein.
So it’s on to the Senate….now is the time to call/email/write your state Senators (get their contact info here).
Done. Sounds like it will be a shoe-in — is there any strong opposition from big grocery stores, etc.?
