Add vodka to the “local” list

Are you doing the 2012 Eat Local Challenge, sponsored by NolaLocavores?  (The challenge requires participants to consume only those foods grown/harvested/caught within 100 miles of New Orleans for a solid month.)  By this time next year, you’ll be able to add vodka to your locavore diet, as the new Donner-Peltier Distillery of Thibodaux ramps up production of distilled spirits.

Donner-Peltier will craft vodka from Louisiana-grown long grain rice and rum from local sugar.  Read more about it here.
