If you really want a Big Green Egg and you live in the greater New Orleans area, check out this post on Craigslist: $200 for a small BGE. Note: I’m just linking to an ad–I don’t know anything about the Egg or the seller. Caveat emptor, y’all.
On the other hand, I can vouch for the quantity and variety of food served at the Bayou Civic Club’s “Wild Game Supper” on Tuesday, March 8th, 2012, beginning at 6:45 pm. The event showcases more than 40 dishes, made with donated wild game (from ducks, elk, boar, and alligator to ostrich, deer, various seafood, and Lord only knows what else). Tickets are $50 per person, with tables of 8 available for $650 (including early admission at 5:30 pm, complimentary wine and your own personal waiter!) All tickets must be purchased in advance, and the event includes live entertainment and an auction. See the flyer at left, or click here. Proceeds support the Bayou Civic Club/Larose Civic Center’s endowment fund, and a substantial portion of the ticket cost is tax-deductible.
