I’ll be stirring up a mighty big pot of andouille and poultry gumbo on Thursday, October 6, at the United Way of St. Charles’ Battle for the Paddle.  More than 100 teams will compete in gumbo and jambalaya categories, with the winners earning bragging rights and possession of “The Paddle” for the next year.

• When:  Thursday, October 6, from 4 pm to 7:30 pm
• Where:  Luling, LA:  Westbank Bridge Park (beneath the Hale Boggs MS River bridge)
• Admission:  $5.00 for unlimited tastings of gumbo and jambalaya; free for children 10 and under
