Rivershack Tavern (3449 River Road @ Shrewsbury, Jefferson, LA) turns out a menu of ordinary bar food:  hot wings, sweet potato fries, onion rings, burgers, and even a few salads.  Only during weekday lunches, the kitchen heads off in a different direction, offering daily specials like veal & pork meatballs, ravioli, celery-root mashed potatoes, double-bone pork chops, rabbit stew.  Last Thursday’s roasted sweet potato and shallot soup (pictured) fit the weather and season.  Check out Rivershack’s Facebook page for daily special updates.
