Register now for the Southern Foodways Alliance symposium

Registration opened this week for the Southern Foodways Alliance annual symposium, a food-filled weekend of deep thoughts, fun, and interesting people.  This year’s program, scheduled for October 22-24, 2010, in Oxford, MS, will celebrate “The Global South”, paying attention to the diverse and evolving cultural influences on Southern foodways.  Check out the weekend’s detailed program here.  If you’re interested in attending, register soon; the event is always a sell-out.

Update:  I’ll be there…will you?

  1. I’m just going to be interviewing a couple of chefs, including Adolfo Garcia. I think the programming looks promising. Plus, it’s always one of the better weekends of the year for me. It’s a financial commitment, though, so I understand the fence-sitting.

    • It’s more about potential vacation conflicts! I think I’m off the fence, I just re-read the brochure & noticed Andrea Nguyen & Francis Lam, and the final breakfast features pho. I’m there….

  2. Sounds like fun but we are going to the Eggtoberfest the weekend before that and I’m not allowed to have too much fun in one month;)

Sounds like they have some interesting topics, like the Cuban influence on Southern food. If you do go, I can’t wait to read about the event on your blog.

  3. I seriously considered it for about six seconds, but that’s right smack in the middle of our benefits open enrollment period, so no chance.
