What a cold, wet, seemingly endless winter we’ve endured this year. Snow, sleet, sub-25 degree weather, days and days of overcast skies: I’m more than ready for spring. I know it’s just around the corner, as I spotted the first Tangipahoa parish strawberries for sale in local markets.
These early berries, from a cold-tolerant variety, aren’t quite as tender and sweet as the late spring berries, but they’re edible proof that warm days are coming. I ate most of them on the ride home from the market.
