The photo says it all; but it doesn’t carry the mouthwatering aroma of hardwood smoke and charred meat that permeates the place. City Market’s brick cooking pits are built into the establishment’s back corner, housed in a (slightly) smokeproof enclosure. Patrons line up outside the inner sanctum, patiently waiting to file inside, take a deep breath, and receive a butcher-paper-wrapped bundle and stack of sliced white bread. Too bad that computer screens aren’t scratch-n-sniff…
