Go out and watch a parade and eat some Popeye’s chicken.  Even though the new slogan (“We do Good Bayou”) is ridiculous, the spicy chicken is still south Louisiana’s favorite.   I’ll be at home, making gumbo z’herbes for Ash Wednesday.

Addendum:  Blender mojitos (for Saturday night’s parade ride) turned out pretty good.  Puree in a blender juices & pulp of 6 limes, juices of 1 meyer lemon, 1 blood orange, a whopping lot of homegrown mint, and 3/4 cup sugar.  Divide the resulting slurry equally between three 1-liter bottles.  Pour 1/3 bottle dark rum into each bottle, then top with club soda.
