Roadside strawberry vendors are now selling the fruit for $8-10 per flat.  Let the jam-making begin!  Sure, some of the berries are ridiculously overripe, and a few are downright fuzzy, but the fruit is perfect for making jam or preserves, or slicing to freeze for late-summer ice cream toppings or smoothies.
